The Ceo As Chief Strategist

Senior executives are usually senior executives because they have been promoted over the years as recognition of their performance...their operational performance. In addition, most succession planning looks at developing individuals that are exceptional operational thinkers, not strategic thinkers. Once at the VP level or higher, these employees must affect more change and more influence on the organization to merit their compensation and responsibilities. Organizations cannot afford to pay executive compensation to great operational managers. Senior leaders must drive the future direction of their firms to survive, compete, and reach ever-higher levels of performance. In particular, CEO s should be the embodiment of their organization s vision and strategic direction. The only way to do so is by operating on a more strategic basis. Two key ingredients are essential to elevate senior leaders to this more strategic level: better strategic skills, and a greater investment of time. In addition to a myriad of leadership and communication skills, CEO s and other senior leaders must explicitly build the skills necessary to be...

When Your Cold Is More Than Just A Cold

Sometimes you may think that you only have a simple cold. But oftentimes symptoms of your cold begin to worsen and persist for weeks and pain is felt in the sinus region. If the cold is left untreated, excessive mucus may drip down to the back of the throat or in the sinus cavities that can result to a sinus infection. People often confuse cold with acute sinusitis as their symptoms are too similar. You often think that you only have a cold until the symptoms worsen and that s when you decide to seek medical advice. Your cold is sinus related if your condition is characterized by runny nose, cough, nasal congestion, mild headaches, post nasal drip, fever, swelling around the nose, eyes and cheeks, fatigue and sore throat. If it were for anything else, it must be the assurance of the research and technologies used to design and manufacture expensive items. After all, you get what you pay for. The choice of triathlon clothing is solely yours. There is a wide spectrum of choices both from local triathlon gear stores and online vendors that you might find yourself overwhelmed with options. Remodeling A Bathroom

So you ve decided that it s time to update your bathroom. Whether you re planning to sell your home or you ve simply decided your family needs a more updated space, there are a few important decisions you should make before you start. First of all, consider what needs to go no pun intended . Are you remodeling because all of the fixtures- tub, shower, toilet and sink- are outdated. Or is there a specific area of the bathroom that doesn t work for you. Maybe the floor is outdated or peeling, or the mirrors are in inconvenient places, or you d like to knock out a closet or install some shelving. Before you start, pin down the exact things about your bathroom that need work. Don t immediately assume you need to overhaul the entire room. You may be able to save yourself big bucks by starting with the problem areas. If your bathroom seems too small, you might not need to tear out a wall. Many Denver Schools To Close Campuses During Lunchtime

Beginning with the fall of 2006 school year, many high schools in the Denver schools system will close their campuses during lunchtime. This means that Denver schools students will not be allowed to leave campus to eat at nearby restaurants, fast foods, and convenience stores. Denver schools superintendent Michael Bennet introduced the final draft of the new policy, called the Denver Plan, in the spring of 2006. Bennet believes his plan will reduce the increasing afternoon truancy within the high schools. The Denver schools plan has taken several drafts to reach implementation. The first draft was introduced to Denver schools principals in November of 2005, suggesting that schools could submit waiver requests by April to exempt the older students in 11th and 12th grades. A second draft was presented to the Denver schools principals in February 2006, amending the original policy by stating that more time was needed to determine how the policy would be implemented. At a March meeting of the Denver schools principals, administrators presented the final plan, which requires all freshmen to remain on campus. Waivers may be...

Scottish Cuisine: Haggis

Haggis is a traditional Scottish highland dish that resembles, in some senses, a rather rough sausage. It is the national dish of Scotland, and Robert Burns, the great Scots poet, who wrote the famous Address to a Haggis called the haggis the chieftain o the puddin-race. It is a staple of Scottish cuisine, and is served in the traditional manner, as well as in the haggis supper deep fried haggis with a side of French fries or even as a haggis burger. It is sold prepared in supermarkets year round. But what is actually in this mysterious and oft-misunderstood food. Though the traditional response to the question what is a haggis. is often answered with a joke about a small highland animal with one pair of legs shorter than the other to more easily circle the highland hills , the truth is that it is a food designed to let no part of the animal go to waste hence its popularity amongst the poor in the days of Burns. While it is sometimes made of deer, the haggis is more often based on sheep. It is a combination of oatmeal and several meats. Normally, the sheep s pluck or offal is removed, including heart, liver, and lungs or...

Protecting Your Social Security Number From Identity Theft

Any victim can tell you identity theft is no laughing matter. The hoops you may have to crawl through for weeks or even years to come, in trying to straighten out your life, can elicit far more tears than laughter. These tears would be most certainly tears of frustration as you do anything and everything to reinstate your good name and most probably your good credit. Those of you who have no identity theft insurance, which means most of you, will spend at least a part of your day notifying businesses and agencies, credit reporting entities and credit card companies. You will write letters that will need to be notarized, claiming you are indeed the unwitting victim and not the architect of some nefarious plot to ruin your own reputation. Meanwhile, until the matter is cleared, you may suffer mightily as your credit score plummets and bills come due. Bills for things you never purchased.. This translates into being denied credit for products and services you really want or paying higher, penalty interest rates for having such lousy credit. Identity theft begins with nine little numbers. These nine numbers can mean the world to...
